#78: From Special Forces to international business With Lino Miani

On this episode co-host Audrey interviews Lino Miani. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Navisio Global LLC. Lino is a retired US Army Special Forces officer with over 20 years of global Special Operations, interagency, and multinational experience. Throughout his public service career Lino developed and demonstrated an ability to advise senior political and military leaders from around the world. Before his retirement from the Army, he was the Aide to the Commander of the NATO Special Operations Headquarters (NSHQ) where he became familiar with decision making at the allied political level.

Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA) in the Middle East, South and Central America, the Caribbean, East Asia, and beyond where he found himself in the center of intense international diplomatic events. 

His work with Navisio Global has ranged from Australia to Norway to Indonesia to Latin America where he has advised international organizations, corporations, and private clients on subjects related to global security and business. 

Lino is a veteran of the Program for Emerging Leaders (PEL) at the National Defense University’s Center for the Study of WMD, an Olmsted Foundation Scholar, and author of the award- nominated 2011 book, The Sulu Arms Market. He is a contributing author at Stratfor. He was commended by the Secretary of Defense and the US Ambassador to Malaysia for his achievements while assigned to the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. 

Lino speaks Spanish, Malay, Indonesian, and French. He graduated from West Point, and holds Master’s degrees from the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur and from Kansas University. He is the President of the non-profit Combat Diver Foundation and he loves to tell stories with a message.
